Mental Health in Pandemic

We have entered the third year of a pandemic no one was prepared for. It has altered our lives and changed how we do church. We have lost loved ones. We have been isolated but busier than ever. And as pastors and leaders tending to the overwhelming needs of congregations—we have also carried these burdens for others. We would be lying if we said we are ok.

In light of all this, we will be hosting a pastor's gathering Thursday, March 10th, Mental Health in a PandemicDr. Richard Butman and Anjanette Young will be lending us their decades of expertise in this field. There will also be ample time for questions and lunch will be provided. And we hope that by sharing in this together, our city-wide bonds of friendship and camaraderie will be strengthened. Because making Jesus visible in every neighborhood of Chicago starts with us.

Feel free to spread the word to other pastors throughout Chicago.

Time: 10:00am-12:00pm (Lunch will be included)

His commitment to promoting holistic development has led to direct involvement in ministries in Africa, Asia, Chicago, and Latin America.

Anjanette Young, MSW, LCSW

President & CEO of Cafe Social Work
Social Worker | Therapist | Speaker | Justice Advocate

Young has worked for many years with individuals, children, and families in the Chicago area. She is experienced in mental health interventions and crisis management, and her clinical lens is guided by an extensive knowledge of brief cognitive-behavioral therapeutic and trauma-informed care.

In February 2019, Young was the victim of a wrong and botched police raid, during which police battered their way into her apartment and subjected her to humiliating treatment. Subsequently, she has been an unflinching advocate who has tirelessly sought justice not only for herself, but for all people impacted by police raids and excessive use of force.

Young’s professional work, advocacy and passion for people have deep roots in her family history. Her grandmother was a civil rights activist who fought for justice and equity and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. She is devoted to carrying on that family legacy of advancing social justice and to raising the bar for police accountability.
